My school is in an urban setting and half my class receives free lunches. Some of them come to school not having eaten breakfast. My class this year consists of 11 special education students who need lots of support in reading, writing, and math. My school is super supportive but we cannot afford many of the items for each class and many of my students don't even come in to school with the school supplies they need because their families just can't afford it. These items I have selected will help support their needs and the needs of my students for years to come. Many students come to our school because the special education program there, so I will need to support classes in years to come. If I want my students to be strong math students and eager learners, I need to have items that will support their learning and growth.
