Too often, students enter history classes expecting to simply remember a slew of facts, names, and dates. Additionally, those names are almost exclusively those of White men, the dates often wars, those facts incomplete and dry. This brilliant text will be the basis of our newly revamped U.S. History and Civics course, helping students see that American history is all of us. Help American history come alive! This country is beautiful because of the contributions of a myriad of cultures, landscapes, and experiences. My classes are filled with students from a wide array of backgrounds, and to give them a history that writes them out of the story is another way of saying they are not truly American. My students are hungry for this history. They need to read this book!
