All of my students use a picture system to communicate. As a result it is very important that they are motivated so they make requests to build on their language. At the start of the year, the students did not care for art, but as different materials were left accessible, and with plenty of mess, the students began to initiate art projects on their own and even bring music into the art area to expand their creativity. Now that the students are interested in art, I would like to make sure they have the materials they need to continue their motivation in not only art, but communication and their expression of feelings as well.
