Reading newspapers and magazines as adults helps to keep us informed and exposes us to information that we may not have known before. Magazines can be a powerful educational tool for adolescent readers. Magazines can help expose students to reading material that is aligned with their interests and to ideas they have yet to explore. Magazines can also promote the use of effective reading strategies to help boost essential skills such as comprehension and fluency. Magazine choice will offer my students reading and learning opportunities that are meaningful to them. I am looking to purchase magazines with articles based in language arts, science and math in order to engage students and offer them more opportunities to explore their interests.
