Most of my students have not left the city in which we live. They have not experienced snow, towering trees, mountains, or even four seasons; therefore, it is hard for them to understand the different ecosystems on planet Earth. Google Expeditions will allow them to visit these places virtually. Using VR goggles with phones and 360 degree cameras, students can observe the different flora and fauna. They can ask questions about the ecosystem and then collect qualitative data. Their investigation will deepen their understanding of these different systems. The Google Expedition kit will provide not only all the virtual reality goggles, phone, and cameras, but also the charging carts and router. The students will be able to participate without worrying about battery life and connectivity.
