These materials will be used to create five Inquiry-Based learning kits for each student. Each kit will provide an opportunity for the student to explore and construct knowledge with peers via Inquiry-Based Play Groups through our school's Distance Learning Model. Students will have an opportunity to investigate the following five topics: "Who We Are?" "Exploring Light and Shadow," "Water Inquiry," "Counting Collections with Nature," and "Engineering Ramps at Home" through teacher guidance and small interactive peer groups online. INQUIRY BASED LEARNING KIT ELABORATION "Who We Are?" is an inquiry into the nature of the self and human relationships including family. The lines of inquiry include: * physical, social and emotional characteristics; * family and cultural influences who we become; * role within the family. Beginning with a provocation of self-reflection and a mirror. MATERIALS NEEDED: mirror, clay, wikki stix, watercolors, construction paper, markers, pencils, beads, string, pipe cleaners Through "How the World Works" students will "Explore Light and Shadow" through the following lines of inquiry: * Interpretation of shadow and light in the art; * How light changes the way we see things; * Sources of light. Beginning with a provocation of a flashlight at bedtime. MATERIALS NEEDED: flashlight, tissue paper, glowsticks, mirror duct-taped edges, UV paper, chalk In our "Sharing the Planet" unit we will conduct a "Water Inquiry” through the following lines of questioning: * The properties of water; *The uses of water; * That all living things need water; * How do we use water responsibly. Beginning with a provocation of water and food coloring. MATERIALS NEEDED: water, food coloring, oil, vinegar, soap, water balloon, plastic animal, salt
