I hope to start a recycling program wherein each classroom collects all their paper, plastic and aluminum and gets it recycled on a weekly basis. Student representatives would be in charge of taking their recycling to the school's recycling bins. Students will be in charge of scanning it for contaminants, calculate the amount of waste, and we would keep a tally to determine quantitatively the amount of resources we will save and divert from the landfill. The computers will help with the tallying, which we will share with the entire school. The printer will help us make the flyers, and pamphlets and continue to share how to recycle properly and how much and how well we are recycling. Technology will help in educating others on proper recycling. I hope to have my students put together flyers on how to recycle, and make infomercials and propaganda about proper recycling. I hope this project will start an environmental movement wherein the students are empowered to take environmental action and carry on their "Green" efforts home and for their entire futures.
