One of the most overlooked areas and opportunities for learning with young children is the playground. Here, students are allowed the freedom to experiment with a wide range of activities and materials that may not be easily accessible in the classroom environment. These activities allow teachers to transfer and expand on activities introduced in the classroom. Measuring quantities in the sandbox, practicing social skills with peers in the outdoor playhouse, using tools and materials to build new projects and ideas on a grander scale than the classroom can provide. Your generous donation to our project will enable our school site to transform our playground into an outdoor classroom by purchasing needed shovels, buckets, trucks, dolls, art materials, and sensory supplies, for students to use on a daily basis. This will enable staff to provide meaningful, enriching learning opportunities (cooperative play, easel art, construction and building in the sand box, etc.) for all students when they on the playground during the school day.
