The majority of my students come from low-socioeconomic backgrounds and attend a Title I school in south Louisiana. Our school has recently been recognized as a top school in Louisiana that has achieved growth from the 2012-2013 school year. With that being said, many of our students are faced with atypical situations outside of school and with a little love, motivation, and dedication, our students can succeed. As the students move to higher grades, the Common Core State Standards' assessment program PARCC requires that parts of the test be taken online. Also, as a part of the Common Core State Standards, students as early as Kindergarten must learn to "Integrate and evaluate content presented in diverse media and formats, including visually and quantitatively, as well as in words." In order to help our students be prepared for the years ahead, we need to provide our little ones with opportunities that can improve their educational experiences.
