My students are 3 to 5 years in age. Each student in my Special Needs classroom has severe physical disabilities. Mobility is limited for my students and daily gross motor exercises are extremely important to their health and well being. Having mats to do their physical therapies on is vital to their daily growth. Physical therapies for gross motor gains are critical for their continued development. Range of motion exercises help support their flexibility and fluidity with their joints and muscles. Having the mats will benefit not only their physical therapy needs, but will also encourage social emotional growth. There will be room to have multiple students on one mat for socializing, peer interactions, and small group music therapy sessions.
