Students range in age from 9 year old fifth graders to 14 year old eighth graders. Over 600 students will enter the Health classroom each week for one hour of core concept education and skills practice. Students are diverse, representing all socioeconomic, cultural, health and learning backgrounds. One thing they all have in common is they are impressionable young learners. Our school is one of four grammar schools in the district. We are fortunate to provide health education at all four grade levels in the middle school. No child is immune to the pressures of adolescence. In our school, drugs are no exception. Even our youngest students are exposed at home or in their community to pressures their young minds cannot comprehend. This is why Health classes and resistance skills are so important.
