Allowing students to express themselves in the arts is essential to their academic and social emotional development in kindergarten. Due to teacher shortage we currently don’t have an art teacher. My students will use the art easel to explore and express their creativity through painting, drawing and self expression. I inherited a talented group of active kindergartners a week ago who are in need of exploratory stations that will allow them to express themselves in the arts. We are a Title One school with 100 % free lunch and our students will greatly benefit from the exposure. Flexible seating will allow my students to take charge of their learning in the classroom and make the choices that work best for them. During independent work times they may choose a location in the classroom that works for them to practice independent or partner writing. The lap desk will support them as they practice writing.
