Many of my students have not found a love for books or love for reading. I am going to change that by introducing them to a book that takes you on an adventure, Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate Dicamillo. I plan to read Because of Winn-Dixie as a class. I will use this book to reinforce our fiction standards, while also fostering a love for reading. Because of Winn-Dixie is a book that is very relatable for my students, which will help them to stay engaged and motivated to read. This book will be the start of their journey as readers. If they can find that love for reading, I believe they will be able to achieve anything!
