My students are an eager group of diverse learners. Our class is made up of many types of students. We have some students who are advanced, and others who are several reading levels below grade level. Two autistic students add to the diversity of our class. Our demographics are diverse. We have many different ethnic groups represented and several who are eligible for free and reduced lunch. They are very active and eager to learn in many different ways- both traditionally as well as interactively through technology. They face the challenge of taking our state-mandated tests for the first time this year. It is a mandatory retention year, meaning if they do not pass the test, they do not pass the grade. Having additional resources available for instruction will better prepare them for these tests.
