I teach Bilingual Life Skills which ranges from 1st through 4th grade. My students are unique individuals with a variety of disabilities that includes autism, down syndrome, speech impairments, and intellectual disabilities. Each student learns in their own unique way. Some love learning through interactive videos, while others learn through a more hands-on approach. They also enjoy giving hugs and interacting with adults and their peers. Some students are non-verbal and use augmentative communication devices to communicate, while others are able to vocalize but don't know how to communicate their needs and wants. Our school is situated near public housing for low income families and our diverse student population is primarily underprivileged. On our campus, not only do we work on academics, but we also work on our maintaining our wildlife garden, keeping our school green, and giving our students as many opportunities to be successful out in the community and throughout their lives
