Our classroom is partnering with a local non-profit (The Escondido Creek Conservancy) to take over their water quality testing and try to reintroduce native trout to their local watershed. Chemistry students will provide the water quality data, but we need professional equipment to run comparable tests! Our data will help inform the reintroduction of trout species to the Escondido Creek. This new equipment will allow us to directly compare our results to previous tests done on the creek. Students need both chemical testing equipment and bacterial testing equipment to create a cohesive picture of stream health, which they will share with park rangers to inform decision making.
