My students attend a middle school in South Carolina. Over 75% of the school is on free/reduced lunch. Our town is small and located in a rural area. Many of my students live below the poverty level and cannot afford extra supplies like headphones. My students are excited about using technology and thrive when allowed to interact with various technologies to complete tasks. From research to hip hop history songs, my students love opportunities to be self-directed learners through the use of technology. However, many of my students do not have headphones and this limits the potential of the activities as they are required to turn their volume off. Many of my students are auditory learners and need opportunities to listen as well as read informational text.
