My school is a Title I school with an extremely diverse population. Many of my students are transient and suffer from poverty. Most of my kids do not have any books at home or any way to get to the library. Their parents are more concerned with meeting their basic needs than providing them with rich and entertaining literature. My students are also special education students. All of them come to me because they have learning disabilities. Reading does not come easily to them and they need high interest books and an area they want to be in to spark their interest.
