Our Classroom is a Sheltered English Immersion(SEI)classroom. Our school is in an extremely high needs, high poverty inner city area. This classroom was just opened this year extending the schools SEI program to the second grade. I am a first year teacher trying my very best to give my students what they deserve, a solid foundation. My students are trying to master the English language as well as conquer the second grade curriculum. My students are so passionate about learning despite all of the challenges that they face . They come to school ready to learn even though they are missing parts of their families back in their native country. Many of the families are extremely poor even though all adults are working multiple jobs. I want my students to reach for the stars. I work on their confidence levels daily and let them know I will NEVER give up on them. Having the in focus will give my students the visuals they need to succeed.
