My students are a diverse group and I need books in my classroom library that reflect that diversity. I have taught for 20 years and have many books, but very few of those have main characters that showcase the diversity I teach. I want to provide books (chapter and picture) that will show ALL of my students that people of every skin tone can be successful and strong of character. My hope is to teach my students compassion and understanding by utilizing literature that focuses on the rich diversity of my school.
