Students should be empowered to share their learning and thought processes with their peers. The ability to project solved problems to generate discussion and debate is integral to moving kids from basic understanding of concepts to a higher level of application. A document camera connected to a projector will allow students to easily demonstrate their solutions and present their strategies to their classmates. Students will be able to develop confidence in their mathematical skills and collaborate with each other to evaluate efficient action plans to solve rigorous problems. Students who can explain a concept to others will have a much better understanding of the topic which is the ultimate goal in the learning process! Besides highlighting student work, the "Random Walker" will be used to show the amazing connection between the binomial model and the normal distribution. In under 5 seconds, the students will be able to actually see an upper level statistical concept in action and reflect on the beauty of mathematical modeling!
