I have a wonderful group of Kindergarteners this year. They range in age from 4-6. They are very eager to learn. They are lucky to attend a supportive school with a caring staff. Our school has four Kindergarten classes this year and one Transitional Kindergarten class. That means that any resources provided to my class will also be shared among the other 80 Kindergarten students at our school. This is my first year teaching Kindergarten. I taught first grade the past two years at the same school. I know the challenges facing emergent readers and the skills required to be a successful reader. Letter recognition is one of the first steps in reading. I want to provide my Kindergarteners with a solid foundation in letter recognition and letter sound recognition. Most of the resources in my classroom are outdated or well used and worn out.
