My 2nd graders are very enthusiastic learners. We start the day with our reading workshop followed by the Daily 5 Menu which includes read to self, read with someone, listen to reading, work on words or work on writing. In an ideal day, students are supposed to go through all 5 rotations. However, having limited listening devices makes it impossible for some of my students to listen to reading daily as I would want them to.
