I have a class full of 5th graders excited to learn and ready to take their learning personally further than ever before. Unfortunately the technology isn't always available for this to be done consistently. At home many students do not have computers or the ability to access technology and at school there is only a maximum time of one hour a week in the computer lab. As a school every teacher works to maximize their time and lessons but with one computer lab it is not easy. Research projects and reports are not easily completable with only books from the library. Every day they surprise me with how much they can find out that even I didn't know when given the opportunity to learn. They are inquisitive and love to find science experiments that they can try in the classroom. It is so much fun! Especially in Alaska where the winters can be long and cold.
