Stretchy bands and parachutes have become staples in the music classroom to assist students young and old in movement activities. The stretchy band is designed to help students with cooperative activities in music class. An extra large stretchy band allows for a whole class to be around it at the same time. It can be used for team building activities and to express different attributes of music. Parachutes offer opportunities to explore staccato and legato activities, dynamics and phrasing in music. It's circle format, encourages students to work as a team, building opportunities for creative expression as a group. Students in younger grades will enjoy these movement activities as part of their music class throughout the year. With this stretchy band and parachute, I would like to use them with my primary grades to perform singing games, circle chants, and encourage teamwork.
