My goal with this project is to provide engaging opportunities for my students to grow as readers and writers. I want to make reading fun, interesting, and meaningful! As part of our Reader's Workshop, I will utilize the Daily 5 to provide meaningful, hands-on experiences for my students to choose literacy opportunities that will enable them to grow as readers. A listening center will help my students develop their fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills. Students will take ownership in their learning while working independently at the listening center. Students will be able to choose a text, follow along with the reader, and choose a reflection activity that will require them to think critically about the text. *Fluency is a big struggle for second graders. It affects their comprehension, vocabulary, and self-esteem. This listening center will provide them with a daily model of fluency. I truly feel that this learning station will give them extra practice and support to reinforce and enrich their reading and writing skills.
