Middle school students varied in their skills and knowledge of educational technology use. My students live in a rural community in northern Vermont with limited interactions with diverse cultures. Our school has a 65% free reduced lunch population. Grades 5 - 8 are currently enjoying a 1:1 program where each student has a MacBook Air for use during the school day, this helps to provide a bridging of the gaps in technology exposure that exists between households. My fellow teachers and I work each day to increase student confidence in using technology to help problem solve in all subjects. We work with students on how to use multimedia presentations to express their knowledge of content and research topics of interest.
