I'm a School Counselor for students in grades K-8 in North Philadelphia. A significant number of my students have behavioral health needs that affect them throughout the school day. I've been given a bigger office space this year (yay!) and am hoping to create an environment where my students can reduce their stress, take a break and work on their emotional health. Ever have a stressful day?! Wouldn't it be great to have a space you can go to during your day to de-stress, calm down and take a break? That's the environment I'm hoping to create for my students. I am hoping to support their emotional needs so that they can have a successful school year and meet their goals. Within my project I am requesting a classroom rug and throw pillows so that I can create a space for my students to recharge and relax. I have requested coloring materials as a tool to help my students de-escalate and improve their focus. The sensory tools will help with students who need to refocus their negative energy and turn their day around. Our goal is to provide our students with the necessary tools to be successful members of society. Part of that needs to be supporting their emotional well-being which is my primary focus and the items in my project request will ensure that I am able to do that! Thank you!
