We are a Spanish language specific classroom in many of our first years of school. Kindergarten is a year filled with academic interactions along with social learning imperative to future achievement. Many us have recently come to this country and are learning a new language and cultural understanding around the expectations of school. We begin each day with a morning meeting to model social skills and manners and then intertwine the academic with the idea of choice and play. We learn to strengthen our fine motor skills, speaking skills, and interpersonal skills at specially designed centers that allow for each of these to transpire. Academic learning is based on the common core state standards adopted by most of the country. Our achievements allow us to become prepared for the 21st century by understanding the skill set needed for critical thinking, communication, and literacy. Through these modes we develop purpose
