Students spend much of their day sitting and looking at a screen. This project gives them the opportunity to get up and get moving while they learn. Using the elliptical trainer, students can pedal at their desks or stand in the back of the room and walk while maintaining focus on the lesson. Standing desks allow students to leave their chair but maintain use of a writing surface. I hope that allowing students to use either the stand up desk or elliptical trainer periodically throughout the day will lead to higher student engagement and greater student achievement. I can't wait to see how students will respond to these learning tools!
