My kids come from a large urban district in Texas. Most of them are bused-in from further away neighborhoods and attend our school because unlike kids living nearby, their families cannot afford to send them to private school. An overwhelming majority qualify for reduced price or free school lunch, and many lack the basic 21st Century tools at home such as smart phones, computers, or Internet access.
