This project will help my 6th graders understand that once water has been polluted, it's costly - and sometimes almost impossible -to clean. My students are a very diverse group. More than half come from gritty urban areas, and some live in leafy suburbia. Almost none of them have the chance to touch, observe and operate machines that physically process materials, and to directly observe how needed energy is obtained.
