Our administrator is implementing CHAMPS behavior management system this year, which had been researched and proven to aid in effective classroom management. A key element to this system is setting clear expectations. There should be expectations set and communicated for every activity (teacher led lessons, group work, bathrooms, hallway procedure, science labs, etc.). I have created a Google slide document with each slide portraying expectations for specific activities. In order to create an effective display to teach and reteach expectations, I would like to put a television in the corner of my classroom with expectations for the current activity constantly up. This allows me to efficiently refer to specific expectations and reteach them thoroughly and quickly. The Chromebit will make the television an interactive computer, allowing me to easily cycle through expectations on the slideshow during transition times. This will make less unstructured time for students. Another advantage to having a digital display is the flexibility. I will be able to easily change language to meet student levels and instantly add expectations for a new activity (program, concert, specific field trip, visitor, etc.). This will be a consistent element in my classroom. I hope to allow students to create slide and portray them on the TV as the year progresses.
