I am an eighth-grade science teacher at a Title I school. Due to the high number of free and reduced lunch qualifying students, our school qualifies for every student to receive a free breakfast and lunch. My students are from a rural/small town background with high poverty levels. Most students do graduate from high school, but very few go on to obtain higher education degrees. I am taking the Google for Education courses to get Google classroom certified. I also teach a computer coding enrichment class to eight-grade students. Students use the code.org curriculum to learn basic coding skills during each nine-week rotation. Our challenge is lack of technology for our classrooms. I don't have enough computers for a class set and I do not have any technology for my computer coding students to do real-world application of the skills they learn.
