"Every child learns, just not on the same day and not in the same way." (Spady) Our middle school had 463 total students in 2013-14. Of those students 74.5% of students are eligible for free/reduced rate lunch. We have a diverse student population, 77.8% of students are of a racial minority and 20.3% are English Language Learners. I teach Modified Language Arts classes and Literacy Intervention classes for students with an IEP or students who need extra support in Literacy. At our school, 16.2% of students qualify for Special Education services (have an Individual Education Plan). We showed a 52% increase in 6th graders from 2012 to 2013, with a 24% increase in entire student body. We have 530 students enrolled in 2014-15 and we will continue to grow. The students and staff continue to set goals to reach an established status within the district and state; we are on a mission to be successful!
