The poverty rate at my school has increased steadily every year for the past 10 years. The students in my classroom now come from a wider variety of backgrounds than ever before. My students are increasingly affected by the "digital divide." Their primary "computer" has been their cell phone - if that. I try to expose my students a wide range of digital devices and equipment throughout a year in science so they experience what it is like to use such devices. By making science as "real world" as possible, I am able to expose my students to STEM related careers and studies.
