We live in a small town in Oklahoma. Within our school population, we have a large number of ELL students. The majority of the students come to school with Spanish being their home language. For most ELL students, school is the only place they hear English. Parents only speak Spanish at home and are unable to help with homework or reading at home. I am a pull-out teacher for these students, so they come to my classroom for 30-45 minutes each day. I am looking for a way to really capture their attention and provide awesome learning experiences within that short time. The ELL students make up a large part of our population, therefore when it comes to testing these students are providing a big part of our scores. These students who lack English language proficiency are struggling on state testing. We have to find a way to help them be successful.
