I teach students in a medium sized city in Connecticut. We are a school district that has made significant growth with all of our students, but we are still failing. The student body is 90% minority with 78% receiving free or reduced lunch. Approximately 27% of students receive support services, and a large percentage of that population are English Language Learners. Current budgetary constraints prevent purchase of technology for all of these learners. The majority of these students enjoy coming to school and learning science, but do not have the same opportunities as the more affluent districts. The struggling learners continue to have the need for technology that is constantly changing.
