My elementary students are from the ages of five through eleven. 82% of these young children come from economically disadvantaged households. 80% are Latino. 40% are English Language Learners. A quarter of the student population is identified as Special Ed. 100% of these students are loved and cared for and supported by their comprehensive school counseling program. The program services all students through classroom guidance. Many students receive more targeted support through small groups or responsive one-on-one counseling. The students come to counseling with concerns regarding acute and chronic stress, anxiety, depression, escalated behavior and emotions, incarcerated parents, divorce and separation, custodial issues, cultural isolation, homelessness, poverty, impaired language, underdeveloped social skills and much more.
