My students are mainly from the Hispanic heritage and they come from many countries in South America and the USA. I have never seen kids that have such a love for learning, even though they might not have access to all the amenities that other students might have. They come to school each day ready learn. In my class we have journals where the student can write to me and tell me about what is going on in their lives, many times my kids have thanked me for teaching them a certain skill.
