I am a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant who is very blessed to work with over 100 different, very special students a week. Over 40 my students have moderate to severe autism. Many others are severely handicapped. Yet some of the students are general ed and need extra support. My students are in Elementary, Jr, High and High School. It's a good thing I love a challenge! Some of my students require sentence strips or pictures to communicate. Others rely on sign language or a device to speak for them, and some just need help with their articulation or grammar. My students are amazing! They are funny, caring, unique and LOVE to come to speech! Yes some of them can be a bit challenging at times, but that just makes them even more special and makes me want to help them even more. Each of my students has a strong desire to learn new strategies to become better communicators at whatever level is possible for him or her.
