Students are between fifteen and eighteen years old (sophomores, juniors, and seniors). The class is not divided by levels so each class contains a variety of ability levels. Students are required to take either one, two (recommended), or three years of a language course (depends on career/college plans). Many students participate in some form of after-school activity. Like average teenagers, most are interested in the latest music, fashion, food, and social activities in and outside of the school setting. It is a medium-sized high school located in a small town with a large population of residents with low annual incomes.
