I am working in a Title Once school, where the teachers provide many of the resources from their own funds. The students in the school are low income, and free breakfast and lunch is provided to a 90th percentile of the school. As a veteran reading specialist who knows how important the supplies are to complete everyday reading and writing activities, I know somehow I need to provide these items to the students in my second grade classroom. Our school is the highest poverty rate of all Elementary schools in our county. Our students come from difficult homes and most times, school is the safest place for them to be. I have seen my students come so far since just the beginning of the year and they have made such wonderful progress in their learning, making me so very proud of them.
