The students in my classes are diverse: they come from different cultures, and have a diverse proficiency of the English language. Some of the concepts that we are studying in biology and chemistry are complicated and abstract. Being able to do many labs makes it easier for students to understand some of the more complex concepts that we are learning. Students observe what happens in the labs, and build up their understanding of scientific concepts from the labs. Students are given the opportunity to think how to design labs and what equipment will be needed. This makes our learning of science inquiry based, which is the best way to study science.
