I teach kindergarten in a high poverty school. About one third of my students speak another language at home. Nearly half of the students at our school qualify for the Federal Free Lunch Program. Many of my students' parents do not speak English and have no idea how to help their children succeed academically at home. About 25% of my students do not have books or any enriching educational toys or games at home.
