I teach third grade. My students come from many cultural backgrounds and are amazingly talented and resilient. Their parents struggle to make ends meet. All my kids qualify for free and reduced lunches. They and their parents depend on public schools to help them meet their dreams. Sadly, many schools are not meeting this challenge. As teachers we are being required to do more and more with less and less. From day one in the classroom, my pull-down map has been disintegrating in front of my student's eyes. My students deserve a classroom that is fully stocked with the latest technologies--maps are essential! I want to introduce them to the world, so they are ready to meet the challenges it has to offer.
