Our current PC lab was constructed in 1999 as a typing practice room, with counters along three walls and space for 24 computers. As classes have grown and needs have changed, the lab now houses our Digital Literacy course with 32 machines in the same space (where kids are literally studying and practicing elbow to elbow) while facing the wall. We would like to reconfigure the lab to allow students to more easily see multiple screens with instructor modeling, completed examples, and continually updated practical applications of the standards we study and practice in class, including typing and office application as well as developing a better understanding of online behavior expectations, digital health and wellness, and interconnected communication.
