My students thrive on technology. They can't function without their phones. Having them look up words in a dictionary is like having them read Ancient Greek (on stone tablets). Many of my students have smartphones, but our school is so diverse that many do not have the disposable income. Our county just became a device friendly county, so students are allowed to use technology in the classroom (as long as it's approved by the teacher). As one of the younger teachers in the school, I utilize a variety of tools to teach my students and keep them interested in the topic. English can get dull, so I do my absolute best to keep them interested in the topic (this was especially hard teaching them about colonial Nigeria).
