I teach in a middle school in the Bronx, NY. My students are 85% Latinos and the majority are enrolled in the free lunch program. Many have low basic skills. I struggle to bring them up to grade level knowledge and skills. With the adaptation of the Common Core math standards and not having the proper resources to meet the needs of my students, a document camera will minimize the cost of the photocopies I sometimes end up paying because the only photocopy machine at school does not work as it should.
