My students are incredibly bright, highly motivated, and very savvy when it comes to knowing they are being held out on. They attend a public high school in southern California and due to the economic woes California has experienced the past five years it is highly unlikely my textbooks will be updated anytime soon. As the only instructor on my campus teaching Psychology, it doesn't seem economically viable for my district to spend thousands of dollars on updating textbooks, especially when they are struggling to pay their teachers salaries. Rather than lobby my district for funds to update my textbook to add a Forensic Psychology course, I'd rather make due with the text and supplement my students study with a classroom set of "Forensic Psychology for Dummies" to expose them to more recent and pertinent studies in the field of psychology.
